Vampire Society
Vampires do have a society of their own, like many of the Fae, but few even truly know about this unless they learn of it from the one who made them a vampire, typically called a "sire"(because I decided most people would understand this instead of coming up with an Ancient Tongue term, which is what they would actually use). Clans exists, but they are more like small groups that have happened to decide to stay together, namely for company and nothing more. The Bloodlines, are a another matter though. Every vampire comes from a specific bloodline, stemming back to the original true Fae that the race comes from. Each bloodline has different strengths and weaknesses, though even among a specific bloodline, these can vary. Although vampires are not overly territorial with one another, sometimes a certain bloodline can have a higher presence in a region, and therefor basically rule it as far as vampires are concerned.
Clans
Clans are basically gangs or small groups of vampires who, as mentioned before, pretty much come together purely for company. Clans basically just look out for each other, like a group of friends would. It is a pretty rare occurrence, due to the fact that vampires are really too common in general.
Bloodlines
The Bloodlines are a little more important to note than clans are, since they actually can have some power of the lives of their members. Most vampires are rather disconnected from their bloodline, which in more modern times isn't really a problem, but in ancient times vampires from broken or disconnected bloodlines would be hunted down and eliminated, as they often caused a lot of problems and drew unwanted attention on vampires and the Fae. The Bloodlines often did this under the pressure from other Fae or even from the Brotherhood(as to the Brotherhood, one vampire isn't really different from the next). There are several notable, and powerful bloodlines among vampires (and dhampirs) who hold a bit of sway among the Fae. Older individuals of these bloodlines often are offered a position as an Elder(all of TF's Fae and Kei races have Elders), who more or less rule over vampires, though more or less just leave everyone to govern themselves.
Here's some specific bloodlines and their general strengths and weakness.
Here's some specific bloodlines and their general strengths and weakness.
- Do-Mly: "Son of the Storm". Vampires(/Dhampirs) from this bloodline come from some of the most powerful vampires throughout the history of their race. D0-Mly vampires, as legend says, came from one of the first Nian ancestors, a viking warrior and self-proclaimed king, who destroyed a Fae village unprovoked. To punish him, the gods made him a vampire, but War and Lytos/Thor instead took favor in him. The vampires of this line tend to have a much higher resistance to sunlight, in fact most are only ever so slightly more sensitive to it than humans. Vampires of the Do-Mly tend to be rather selective of those they sire, and so are rather a rarity even among larger populations of vampires.
- Do-Carmn: "Son of the Marsh". A Talleon bloodline, these vampires are pretty common, and have the general weaknesses and strengths, but on the plus side, seem to not need blood as often as other bloodlines.
- Do-Utura: "Son of Utura". One of the only bloodlines that are possibly accepted by other Fae, they mostly come from Liahetur, and are characterized by having a deep connection to nature magics. Called "sons" (or daughters) of Utura, or Nature, they were actually given the name by other Fae, and many Fae have a high respect for them due to this line's almost direct connection to Utura. Many of this line have worked for the Brotherhood over their history, or others have guarded sacred sites of Nature. Like the Do-Mly, they tend to have a higher tolerance for sunlight, but still should avoid too much sun.
- Do-Dara: "Son of Death". A line well known for their lust for power and killing. Although their name sake is the god of Death, the legends point their origins towards the Fallen Gods, specifically Wrath. Its said that the first of this bloodline was the son of Wrath and a woman of the race that predated the modern vampires(modern vampires are humans turned Fae. The race that predated them, and are their origin, were strictly Fae). This son turned many men into vampires, and killed others by the hundreds, purely to anger the gods, as was the wish of the Fallen Gods. This line is characterized by little to no tolerance to sunlight, preferring the night and shadows, a higher need for blood, and sometimes a connection to Shadow magics(although vampires in general can learn to use Shadow magics).
- Do-Heturi: "Son of the Land". A Capareon bloodline namely, they are much like the Do-Carmn, but have a typical need for blood. They are also rather common, and most that are disconnected from their bloodline are likely from this one truly.
